The financial sector shined during the year 2022 following the central bank's accommodative measures for the least five years as the credit growth to the private sector shows significant recovery during the year. CRDB and NMB were the leading stocks in prices appreciation and transaction value during the year, mostly resulting from the two banks corporate earnings growth during the year 2022. Bonds price cooled off at the end of the year, after heating up in the beginning of 2022, leading to a review of the coupon rates by the central bank.
We expect a resilient economy during 2023 despite global recessionary fears. Inflation has been stabilizing globally since the end of 2022 as central banks have lowered the pace of raising interest rates. The diversified sources of inflow for Tanzania shall play a critical role for her economic stability, and that shall go a long way for the growth of corporate earnings hence another impressive year for the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange.
