The NSX Overall Index closed at 1571.65 points at the end of December, up from 1457.39 points in November, gaining 7.9% m/m on a total return basis in December compared to a 0.2% m/m decrease in November. The NSX Local Index decreased 1.6% m/m compared to a 15.0% m/m increase in November. Over the last 12 months the NSX Overall Index returned 34.1% against 22.1% for the Local Index. The best performing share on the NSX in December was PSG Konsult Limited, gaining 12.0%, while Trustco Group Holdings was the worst performer, dropping -30.2%.

Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) released results for the year ended 30 September 2021 (FY21). Profit after tax for the year fell by 3.8% y/y to N$743.3 million but came in 20.2% higher than the forecasted figure in the prospectus. ROE fell from 36.3% in FY20 to 32.8% in FY21. Afinal dividend of 32 cps was declared for the year.

The best performing share on the NSX in November was Namibia Breweries, gaining 44.3%, while Trustco Group Holdings Limited was the worst performer, dropping -20.4%.

Paratus Namibia Holdings (PNH) released results for the year ended 30 June 2021(FY21). FY21 marked the reporting company’s first full year as the 100% shareholder of its operating company, Paratus Telecommunications (Pty)LtdNamibia (PTNA). Despite challenging economic conditions, PTNA continued to report impressive growth in its fibre customer base, which increasedby 108.9% y/y to approximately 2,500 subscribers.

Oryx Properties Limited (Oryx) released results for the year ended 30 June 2021 (FY21), reporting 43.0% distribution growth to 99.8cpu from 69.8cpu, with the growth largely attributable to Oryx retaining earnings in FY20. Over the same period earnings attributable to linked units (EPU) increased from a loss of 110.63c to a profit of 111.28c per unit. HEPU rose by 4,520.6% y/y to 179.28c following the 97.2% contraction recorded in FY20.

HeinekenN.V.(“Heineken”) this morning announced its intention to acquire Ohlthaver & List’s (“O&L”) 50.01% stake in NBL Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd (“NBLIH”)in addition to the previously announced offer to buy NBS’ 25% shareholding in Heineken South Africa(“HSA”).
