    NSX | IJG Monthly Report - August 2021

    The NSX Overall Index closed at 1524.94 points at the end of August, up from 1456.55 points in July, gaining 6.6% m/m on a total return basis in August compared to a 6.0% m/m increase in July. The NSX Local Index decreased 0.2% m/m compared to a 4.8% m/m increase in July. Over the last 12 months the NSX Overall Index returned 50.9% against 8.3% for the Local Index. The best performing share on the NSX in August was Marenica Energy, gaining 34.0%, while Celsius Resources was the worst performer, dropping 20.0%.

    LHN | Letshego Holdings Namibia - 1H21 Initial Impression

    Letshego Holdings (Namibia) Ltd (LHN) released interim results for the period ended 30 June 2021 (1H21).  Earnings and headline earnings per share increased by 26.2% y/y from 23.3cps to 31.9cps, while profit after  tax rose by 26.2% y/y to N$159.6 million. Earnings growth was mostly driven by LHN being able to charge  customers insurance premiums again. The increased earnings have led to the ROE increasing from 12.2% at  1H20 to 13.8% at 1H21, while the ROA improved from 7.7% to 8.0%. LHN will declare an interim dividend  for the first time. The amount per share and date of payment will be announced on or before 30 September  2021.

    The NSX Overall Index closed at 1456.55 points at the end of July, up from 1374.94 points in June, gaining 6.0% m/m on a total return basis in July compared to a 3.9% m/m decrease in June. The NSX Local Index increased 4.8% m/m compared to a 0.9% m/m increase in June. Over the last 12 months the NSX Overall Index returned 37.1% against 1.4% for the Local Index. The best performing share on the NSX in July was Forsys Metals Corp, gaining 19.5%, while Trustco Group Holdings Limited was the worst performer, dropping 14.5%.

The NSX Local Index increased 0.9% m/m compared to a 0.1% m/m increase in May. Over the last 12 months the NSX Overall Index returned 33.8% against -9.6% for the Local Index. The best performing share on the NSX in June was Vukile Property Fund Limited, gaining 14.5%, while Celsius Resources Limited was the worst performer, dropping -27.1%.

The NSX Local Index increased 0.1% m/m compared to a 0.8% m/m increase in April. Over the last 12 months the NSX Overall Index returned 47.9% against -14.1% for the Local Index. The best performing share on the NSX in May was Marenica Energy Limited, gaining 102.9%, while Vukile Property Fund Limited was the worst performer, dropping 8.9%.

    Oryx Properties Limited (Oryx) released interim results for the period ended 31 December 2020. A distribution  of 56.50 cents per linked unit was reported for the period, representing a 19.0% decrease from the 69.75 cents  per  unit  reported  for  the  corresponding  period  in  2020.  No  dividend  was  declared  for  the  period.  Earnings  attributable  to  linked  units  per  unit  (EPU)  declined  by  74.4%  y/y  to  32.59  cents  per  unit.  Headline  earnings  attributable to linked units however increased by 28.4% y/y from 74.66c in 1H20 to 95.88c in 1H21.
